The user has to transfer files from one computer to another on a regular basis. Sometimes these are very large files that are larger than the available portable storage device. In this case, it is better to split the file and then merge it on another computer. This can be done, for example, using the Total Commander program.

Instructions
Step 1
Both Total Commander computers are installed. This is generally a very useful program, it will come in handy not only for archiving files. Total Commander belongs to the category of shareware software, therefore, during installation, it may issue a sign asking you to press a certain key. Do this and the sign won't bother you anymore. If you have a registered copy of the program, then no extraneous inscriptions will appear on the screen.
Step 2
Determine if you have disk space to split and reassemble the files. Total Commander allows you to do this. Find the name of the drive you need in the top menu, stand there with the mouse and right-click. You will see a drop-down menu in which you need to find the line "Properties". You will see several tabs. Select general properties. There you will find information about the local disk capacity and how much space is used and how much is left. Do the same with the computer where you will receive the archive.
Step 3
Compare the sizes of the free sectors with the total size of the transferred files. If they are smaller, tidy up the local drive, otherwise the computer can do it itself. Then you run the risk of missing a lot. Move the excess to another local disk or delete it altogether. Complete cleaning can be done.
Step 4
Find the directory where the file you want is located. Highlight it. In the top menu, find the "Files" tab, stand on it and click the mouse. A dropdown menu will appear. Select the line "Split file". You will see a window in which you need to fill in several fields. Specify where you will save the archive fragments, as well as their desired size. Click OK.
Step 5
At the end of the work, a window will appear in front of you informing about the completion of the process. Click "OK" and go to the directory that you specified before starting the split. To us, you will find a number of files with the same name, but different numbers. One of them has the crc extension. When transferring files, be sure to transfer it too.
Step 6
Transfer parts of the archive to another computer. Better to create a separate folder for them. Select the fragment with the designation "001". Go to the "Files" menu. In the drop-down window, select the "Build file" function and click "OK".
