Instructions
Step 1
Start by determining the type of RAM sticks installed. Find instructions for your motherboard or read information about it on the manufacturer's official website. Find out the type of RAM plugs to be connected. Determine the maximum frequency and memory size of the supported strips. Check the number of RAM slots on the motherboard.
Step 2
Install the Speccy program and open the "RAM" menu. Find out the characteristics of the installed boards. Consider whether it is worth replacing them or is it better to just add new devices. Remember that if at least one bar operates with a frequency of 500 Megahertz, then the frequency of the rest will be reduced to this indicator.
Step 3
Purchase the required number of new RAM sticks. Turn off your computer and disconnect the system unit from the electrical outlet. Open its cover to access the internal hardware.
Step 4
Find the installed RAM sticks. Open the latches at either end of each slot and remove the strips you want to replace. Connect one new RAM strip. Make sure the fasteners are tightly closed. Turn on your computer and wait for the operating system to load. It is important that no errors are revealed during this process.
Step 5
Turn off your PC and install another memory stick. Connect all new devices following the described algorithm. Run the Speccy program. Open the "RAM" menu. Make sure all new memory sticks are working properly. Look at the average frequency of all bars.
Step 6
Open the control panel and go to the "Administration" menu. Run the program for checking the status of the RAM. Make sure that the system has not detected any errors in the operation of these devices.
