Instructions

Step 1

Launch Adobe Photoshop and open the desired image: menu item "File"> "Open" (hotkeys - "Ctrl" + "O")> select the picture> "Open".

Step 2

Click the main menu item "Layers", then the sub-items "New Adjustment Layer"> "Gradient Map". In the window that appears, you can specify the name of the new layer, the color of the display in the list of layers, the blending mode and the degree of transparency. All these parameters can be changed after creating the layer, so click "OK" immediately. The color scheme of the image will change and at the same time the Gradient Map menu will open in the "Adjustments" window.

Step 3

Click on the colored rectangular panel in the "Gradient Map" to bring up the gradient editing menu. If you click on the button with the triangle facing down, which is located to the right of the panel, a list of ready-made options will open. In the upper right corner of the window that appears, there will be another button with the triangle logo (this time looking to the right), which provides access to even more gradient options and different ways of displaying these options. However, all these lists will be in the main menu. The dark color of the gradient is reflected in the shadows, and the lighter color is reflected in the lighter areas of the image. Therefore, pay attention to the item "Inversion", which swaps the places of light and dark areas. The Inversion item is also on the Gradient Map menu.

Step 4

In the gradient edit window, you will find a panel similar to the one you clicked to open this window. There will be several markers above and below it. The lower ones are responsible for the number of gradient levels. Those. if you need to create a transition not just from one color to another, but from one to another, then to the third, fourth, etc., click at the bottom of the panel. This will create a marker. To open the menu for choosing the color of the marker, make the required marker active and click on the button to the right of the inscription "Color" or double-click on the marker.

Step 5

There is a point between each pair of markers, by moving which you can manipulate the color ratio between the two markers. Having selected, as you think, the necessary gradient, click "OK". To change the transparency of the newly formed layer, find the "Layers" window (if not, press "F7"), open the "Layers" tab, select the layer with the gradient and click on the triangle button located in the upper right corner of the window. A slider will appear, with which you can change the transparency of the layer. You can also specify this parameter from the keyboard in the field to the right of the triangle button.

Step 6

To save the result, click the "File"> "Save As" menu items (hotkeys - "Shift" + "Ctrl" + "S"). Then, in the window that opens, select the path for recording, specify a name, set the file type to JPEG in the appropriate field and click the "Save" button.
