File or folder encryption is widely used in operating systems. If you want to reliably hide information from other users of your computer, use file encryption. You can hide files and folders both by the operating system and by third-party programs.

Instructions
Step 1
Using third-party software makes it very difficult to encrypt your information. Cons of the programs:
- constantly occupied amount of RAM;
- when you uninstall the program, all hidden elements become visible.
Therefore, we will choose encryption with the EFS system.
Log in as an administrator to start encrypting your information.
Step 2
Open a text editor and create a new document. In the body of this document, place the following lines:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows NT / CurrentVersion / EFS]
"AlgorithmID" = dword: 0? 6603
Save this file as hide.reg - run it and accept the request.
Step 3
Open "Explorer" - right-click on any folder - then select "Properties" and go to the "General" tab - then click the "Other" button - select "Encrypt content to protect data" - click OK - in a new window select "Apply to this folder, as well as to all attached files" - click OK.
Step 4
Click "Start" - then the "Run" button - enter the short command mmc - then click OK.
In the menu, select "Console" - the item "Add or remove snap-in" - then click the "Add" button and select "Certificates". Click the Add button - check the box for your user account - click Finish. Then click "Close" - then click OK.
Step 5
Open the "Certificates" branch you created - select "Personal" - "Certificates".
Right-click on the user certificate - select "All tasks" - "Export".
Step 6
Save the encryption file to a flash drive, then delete it from your hard drive. In order not to forget the password, it is recommended to write it down on paper and hide it, you can also put it in a sealed envelope. And the envelope, in turn, is best kept in a safe.
