Can a tablet replace your work laptop? Anything is possible if you equip it with the right applications. If you are going to use an iPad or Android tablet, you are probably worried about whether you are not sacrificing the functionality of a modern computer, especially when it comes to office applications that allow you to view and edit various documents.
The choice of tablet can be anything, fortunately it will not affect the selection of applications. You can find great programs for both iPad and Android tablets that duplicate the functionality of well-known word processing applications like Microsoft Office.
Quickoffice
Quickoffice lets you choose from a variety of cloud services. While tablets can also be loaded with apps that come for smartphones, there is one app that's made specifically for tablets: Quickoffice Pro HD ($ 20, for Android and iPad).
Quickoffice provides many tools for working with documents, spreadsheets and presentations, as well as the option to sync documents with cloud services such as Dropbox automatically. To do this, you just need to add the service in the application settings, enter your username and password once, and these documents will be available for your other devices in the cloud network. The document is created by simply touching the "+" button on the panel.
Google docs
A free alternative to such an editor is the official Google Docs app. Despite the fact that it is very easy to use (visually you see all the options on the screen and with one click you will get into the document and the editor itself), the application will not allow you to work with some types of documents that you have not yet uploaded to Google. Also, unfortunately, you will not be able to export documents to Word or Excel formats. You can only invite other Google users to edit them. For these minor reasons, the app is slightly lower in popularity than Quickoffice, but the huge plus of the app is that it's free.
IPad users might want to use Apple's native iWork app, which consists of three apps, each costing $ 10 each (not cheap, considering that they don't have Dropbox support, for example). But on the iPad's big screen, it does a good job of handling large files.
It doesn't matter which app you choose, you can leave your heavy laptop at home and do everything you need on your tablet, anywhere you have internet access.
