Instructions

Step 1

The Recuva utility is a free software, but despite this, it does an excellent job of recovering damaged and deleted files of various formats. Run the program and the wizard window will open. You can follow its instructions or work with the application yourself. In the first case, click on the "Next" button, in the second - "Cancel". To prevent the wizard from appearing the next time the application is launched, you can select a check box in the corresponding field. If the wizard is canceled, the main program window is launched, where the deleted files that can be restored will be displayed later.

Step 2

Select the "Actions" tab and go to "Settings", where specify the recovery options. If the files were deleted a long time ago, then it makes sense to enable the "Deep analysis" function, which finds more objects to recover. To place the recovered data in the same location on the disk from where it was deleted, select the "Recover folder structure" checkbox, otherwise it will be placed in the "Unknown folder" created by the program. Save the settings and return to the main window.

Step 3

Specify the disk where the data to be recovered is located, if necessary, mark the file type. Click on the "Analysis" button and wait for the process to finish, after which a list of files that are available for recovery will appear. They will be marked with a green mark. The same files that cannot be recovered are marked with a red mark. Click on the file in the list that you want to restore and view its contents.

Step 4

Check the boxes of all the files you want to recover. In general, the faster a damaged file is restored before it is overwritten with new data, the better the result will be.

Step 5

Click on the "Restore" button. Specify the directory where the recovered file will be placed. Wait for the process to finish. If the recovery was successful, the program will display a message about it. The best way to recover files is from a storage medium that has not been overwritten.

Step 6

Examine the list of recovered files, but note that the program does not always restore the original names, more often it replaces them with numbers. Files that have been partially or completely recovered are seriously damaged and cannot be reanimated, so they can be deleted.
