Instructions

Step 1

Open the file in Virtual Dub, the video from which you want to flip. Press Ctrl + O on your keyboard or use the File and Open video file … items of the main menu. The Open video file dialog will appear. Go to the required directory in it, select a file of one of the acceptable formats, click the "Open" button.

Step 2

Set a convenient scale for viewing the source and resulting video frames. This will be especially useful when you rotate the image at an angle that is not a multiple of 90 °. If any of the viewer panels is not displayed, turn it on by pressing the F9 or F10 keys, or using the Input video pane and Output items. Click on the panel with the right mouse button and select the appropriate scale.

Step 3

Open the dialog for adding filters. Select the Video and Filters … items in the main menu or press Ctrl + F. The Filters window will appear. Click the "Add …" button in it. The Add Filter dialog will be displayed.

Step 4

Add a filter to rotate the image. In the list of the Add Filter dialog, select the required item. If you want to flip the video by displaying it symmetrically vertically or horizontally, select the flip horizontally and flip vertically filters, respectively. If you want to rotate 90, 180, or 270 degrees, select rotate. Select the rotate2 item if you want to rotate by an arbitrary angle. Click OK.

Step 5

Set the parameters of the filter, if necessary. After adding filters rotate and rotate2, a dialog for their settings will be displayed. Select the options you want (for example, image rotation angle) and click OK. You can adjust the entered parameters by clicking the "Configure …" button in the Filters dialog.

Step 6

Evaluate the effect of applying the filter. Compare the images of the original and processed frames in the preview panels. Move the slider on the bottom toolbar to make sure you are happy with the result.

Step 7

Activate and configure the video encoding mode. Check the Full processing mode item in the Video menu. Press the key combination Ctrl + P or select the "Compression …" item in the same menu. The Select video compression dialog will appear. Highlight your preferred codec in it. Click the Configure button. Set the parameters of the codec. Click OK in both dialogs.

Step 8

Switch on the direct copying of the audio stream. Check the Direct stream copy item in the Audio menu.

Step 9

Save a copy of the video with an inverted image. Press F7 or use the "Save as AVI …" item in the File section of the main menu. Specify the directory and name to save the file. Click the Save button. Wait for the process to finish.
