The Windows Task Manager is a utility that allows the user to exercise control over the running applications on the system. When problems arise, the dispatcher is launched first to monitor the active processes, determine the problem and solve it.
Instructions
Step 1
Launch Task Manager from the TaskBar context menu. The taskbar is located at the bottom of the screen and it starts with the start button, followed by quick launch programs, running applications, language bar, clock, and more. To bring up the task manager, right-click on an empty part of the panel and select "Start Task Manager".
Step 2
The program has two features. First, it is displayed on top of other windows, even in an inactive state. This limitation can be removed using the "Options" menu item: uncheck the box next to "Above other windows". Secondly, when minimized, the Task Manager window may not appear on the taskbar. To restore this feature, under Options, uncheck the box next to Hide Collapsed.
Step 3
Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Esc. After launch, the Task Manager icon appears on the right side of the taskbar in the form of a tiny black and green grid, like a miniature program. This icon is active, that is, its state changes when the user is working in open applications. Therefore, if the Task Manager window is minimized, you can roughly estimate the load of computer resources by displaying it on the icon.
Step 4
In earlier versions of Windows, the dispatcher was launched by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Del keyboard shortcut. In Vista, when using this combination, a menu appears with commands for shutting down or changing user, but among them there is also a button for invoking the Task Manager. This exits the system from normal mode and closes the Desktop.
Step 5
The task manager can be launched in reduced mode. In this case, the tabs and sections of the menu will not be displayed. To switch to this mode, double-click the left mouse button on the window border. To return to the normal state, also use a double click on either side of the window.
