Instructions

Step 1

To create a portable version of programs, you will need additional software. The required programs will vary depending on which method you prefer. It is reliably known that you can make a program portable using the WinRAR archiver and using the special Thinstall Virtualization Suite solution.

Step 2

If you decide to use the WinRAR archiver to make the program portable, select all files from the program's working folder and, by clicking the right mouse button, select the "Add to archive …" command. Check the box next to "Create SFX archive". Go to the Advanced tab and click the SFX Options button. Enter the name of the main file in the "Run after unpacking" field. Once on the tab, check the box next to "Unpack to temporary folder". Information display mode - "Hide all". Make other settings of the archive as desired and start the archive.

Step 3

There are other programs that can be used to easily make a program portable. For example, Thinstall Virtualization Suite is widely known. Its peculiarity is to analyze the changes that each new installed program makes in the system. They are taken into account when creating portable versions. Thinstall Virtualization Suite allows you to perform more detailed, in comparison with the method described above, the configuration of the portable program:

• Compression and decompression;

• Isolation from the real environment;

• Setting up the working folder of the portable program.

All settings are written in *.ini files manually, after which the portable program is compiled into a single executable file.
