By comparing two photographs, one with a frame and the other without it, you will notice that the frame completes the image. If you need to make a demotivator out of a photo, then a wide black frame is simply irreplaceable. With the help of Photoshop editor, a simple black frame on a photo can be made in just a couple of minutes.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the photo in Photoshop using the Open command on the File menu. It will be faster and easier to use the "hot keys" Ctrl + O. In the explorer window select the required file and click on the "Open" button.

Step 2

Select the entire image. To do this, use the Ctrl + A keys or the Select All command from the Select menu.

Step 3

Transform the selection. To do this, use the Transform Selection command from the Select menu. Drag the frame that appears from the edge of the image while holding down the left mouse button. You can enter a numerical value for the size of the selection in the field under the main menu. Apply the transformation by pressing the Enter key. The entire part of the photo between the border of the selection and the edge of the image will be a frame.

Step 4

Invert the selection. To do this, use the Invert Selection command from the Select menu.

Step 5

Create a new layer using the New command, the Layer item from the Layer menu, or click the Create a new layer button. This button is at the bottom of the Layer palette. You will get the same thing if you press the Shift + Ctrl + N keyboard shortcut.

Step 6

Choose black as the foreground color. To do this, click on the top of the two colored squares at the bottom of the Tools palette. In the palette that opens, select black and click the OK button.

Step 7

Paint the frame with black. To do this, in the Tools palette, select the Paint Bucket Tool and left-click inside the created selection. Press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + D or use the Deselect command from the Select menu. The black frame is ready.

Step 8

Save the black border photo using the Save As command on the File menu with a different name from the original file. You may always want an original photo without any frames. You can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + S.
