When reinstalling the operating system, there is a risk of losing important data. This is especially true in situations where the hard drive is not split into several local disks. Information security problem can be solved in different ways.

Instructions
Step 1
First, try starting your operating system in Safe Mode. If you see the desired hard drive, copy important information to external drives. Keep in mind that many disc burning programs will likely not run in Safe Mode.
Step 2
If the operating system is completely unusable, use another computer to save the information. Remove your hard drive from the system unit. Connect the hard drive to the second PC's motherboard.
Step 3
Turn on this computer and load the operating system installed on its hard drive. Now you can simply copy important information from one hard drive to another. This method is the simplest, but not the best.
Step 4
Create an additional partition on your hard drive. This saves you from having to worry about the safety of important files in the future. Install the Partition Manager program.
Step 5
Reboot your computer. Open the installed utility. Go to the "Wizards" menu and select "Quick Create Section". Specify the size of the new local disk and click Next.
Step 6
Set the size of the new local disk. Click the Finish button. Go to the "Changes" menu and select "Apply physically". Wait for your computer to restart. After creating a new local disk, copy the necessary files to it.
Step 7
Use a bootable disk with Partition Manager or Acronis Disk Director if you are unable to connect the hard drive to a second PC. Start the selected program. Create a new partition to install the operating system.
Step 8
Install a new copy of Windows on a new partition. Remove the remnants of the old system. All your files will be preserved in their original state.
