Necessary

  • - Partition Manager;
  • - Windows installation disc.

Instructions

Step 1

First, try connecting your hard drive to another computer. Turn off your PC and remove the cover from the system unit. Remove the hard drive from the socket and disconnect the cables from it. Install this hard drive in a different system unit.

Step 2

Turn on the second PC. Copy the information from your hard drive to another medium. If this is not possible, then create an additional partition on your hard drive.

Step 3

Install Partition Manager and restart your computer. Run the application. Open the "Wizards" tab. Select "Create Section".

Step 4

Activate the Advanced Mode function. Press the Next button to go to the next menu. Select a hard disk or its partition from which free space will be separated to create a new volume. Please note that it is most reasonable not to create a new partition to which you will copy important data, but to prepare the volume for installing the operating system on it.

Step 5

Specify the size of the future local partition. Enable the "Create logical drive" item and click the "Next" button. Select the file system type of the volume and exit this menu.

Step 6

Click the Apply Pending Changes button. Wait for the new volume creation process to complete. Connect the hard drive to your old computer. Install the operating system on the hard disk partition created for this purpose.

Step 7

If you do not have the ability to connect the hard drive to another PC, then install the new OS on a non-system partition of the hard drive. After that, create a new partition and reinstall the operating system using the new volume. This process will take longer, but it does not require a second computer.
