Saving documents in files on a hard drive or removable media is one of the primary tasks for any computer user. The standard place for storing generated documents is usually the My Documents folder, although the choice of the name, location and format of the saved document is always up to the user.

Step 1

Click the "File" button on the toolbar of the application in which the required document was created (or opened) and select "Save As".

Step 2

Wait for the Save As dialog box to appear. The format of this window is standard for most programs running under the Windows operating system.

Step 3

Call the drop-down menu of the list of all disks and folders located on your computer by clicking on the arrow in the "Folder" field. The hard drive is identified by a symbol and a name that is named the computer drive with the letter C: in parentheses.

Step 4

Call the list of contents of the root directory of the disk by clicking on the C: / field. Browse the list of folders located on it in the large directory field. To move one level up, to the previous folder, use the button to the right of the folder list. Use a double click on the folder field to move one level down. This method will allow you to find any folder intended to save the document. The recommended folder is "My Documents".

Select the "My Documents" folder on the left side of the dialog box by clicking on the folder field to display its contents.

Click on the "File name" field at the bottom of the "Save As" window to call the text cursor. Delete the name suggested by the system and enter the desired one.

Step 7

Select the required file format from the context menu of the File type field. RTF is considered the recommended format for text documents due to its ability to preserve formatting and its widespread use.

Click the "Save" button to save the document with the selected name in the specified folder on the hard drive C: /.

Step 9

Select a folder on the removable disk from the folder list and repeat all the above steps to save the document to removable media. It is recommended to save all documents on the hard drive with the possibility of additional copying to a removable disk as needed.
