Of course, the automatic update option is a free business, the user can refuse it, but then the system can be susceptible to all sorts of attacks. As a rule, you can refuse to download them even during the installation of the operating system. But after that, pop-up windows will periodically appear on the screen with a notification about the disabled automatic update.
Step 2
To completely opt out of automatic updates and not see periodic pop-up messages, go to the System Properties applet. To do this, click the "Start" menu, select "Control Panel" and in the window that opens, select the "System" section. Also, this applet can be launched through the Properties item of the My Computer context menu.
Step 3
In the System Properties window, go to the Automatic Updates tab and check the box next to Never download updates. To close the window and apply the changes, click the "OK" button. After deactivating this option, the system will stop automatically downloading updates.
Step 4
To stop random downloading of updates by other third-party programs, it is recommended to open the application and set a ban on downloading updates in the settings. It should be noted that the update files downloaded by the program without the participation of the utility itself indicate only that the executable file of the program is in the startup menu.
Step 5
To check the presence of the utility in this menu, press the Win + R key combination and enter the msconfig command in the window that opens. Click OK and go to the Startup tab. Find the line with the utility in the list of programs and uncheck it. Click the Apply button and then Restart.
