To store deleted files in Windows operating systems, the system folder "Recycle Bin" is used. It acts as a temporary storage for unnecessary files that can be deleted at any time. Sometimes the Trash icon disappears from the desktop of your system. Use the following tips to restore it.

Step 1
The "basket" itself cannot disappear from the desktop, as a rule, this is caused by some action. To restore it, call the "Display Properties" applet. Right-click on the desktop and select Properties, or open Display in Control Panel.

In the window that opens, go to the "Desktop" tab and click on the "Desktop settings" button. In the "General" tab, find the image "Recycle Bin" and put a check in front of it. Then click OK twice to close the window. If the icon does not appear, try displaying the shortcut.

Open "Explorer" or "My Computer", in the top menu select "Tools", then the item "Folder Options". In the settings window go to the "View" tab and check the box next to the item "Show hidden files and folders". Click OK to close the window.

Go back to your desktop, right-click on an empty space, and under New, select Shortcut. In the window that opens, click the "Browse" button and specify the path to the Recycle Bin folder, which is located on the "C:" drive. Click the "Next" button, enter the desired name for the shortcut and click the "Finish" button.

A shortcut to the system folder "Trash" should be displayed on the desktop. But there are times when, after performing this operation, the shortcut is also not visible. To do this, check whether the option to hide desktop shortcuts is active. Right-click an empty space on the desktop and select Show Desktop Icons in the View section.

As a last resort, you can use the System Restore utility. To start it, you must click the "Start" menu, select the "All Programs" section and run the shortcut from the "Accessories" folder. After starting the program, indicate the estimated date of the loss of the "Recycle Bin" and click the "Restore" button.
