The trash can icon removed from the desktop can only be returned by making changes to the system registry. The procedure for Windows XP, Vista and 7 will be the same, and any attentive user can cope with the task.
Instructions
Step 1
Press the Windows and R keys at the same time, or choose Run from the Start menu. In the dialog box, type regedit and press the Enter key or the OK button.
Step 2
The Registry Editor will be launched. From now on, be careful and do not perform actions, the values of which are not known to you, so as not to change important system parameters.
Step 3
A tree of folders is located on the left side of the Registry Editor window. Click consecutively on each of the following folders: HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Explorer, HideDesktopIcons.
Step 4
When you click on the HideDesktopIcons folder icon, two folders will appear. Select the ClassicStartMenu folder if you have the classic Start menu, or the NewStartPanel folder if you have a new standard menu.
Step 5
By clicking on the folder, you will see several registry lines on the right. Right-click on the line {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} and select the "Modify" command.
Step 6
In the dialog box, enter the number 0 in the "Value" field and click "OK". Restart your computer. A trash can icon will appear on the desktop.
