Trash is a special shortcut on the desktop of any computer. Deleted files are saved separately in the Trash folder. This implements the ability to restore data that was deleted by mistake, which is necessary for the user. Unfortunately, the amount of information stored in the "Trash" is limited, and old files are deleted from there. The customization options for the Trash folder in Microsoft Windows are limited.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the context menu by right-clicking on the "Trash" shortcut and select "Properties".
Step 2
Specify the Recycle Bin limit as a percentage of disk space to determine how long deleted files are kept.
Step 3
Confirm (or cancel) the pop-up confirmation message to delete files.
Step 4
Specify the option to delete files without using the "Recycle Bin" (not recommended due to the complexity of recovering deleted data).
Step 5
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main Windows menu and go to "Run" to launch the Registry Editor.
Step 6
Enter regedit in the Open field and click OK to confirm the command.
Step 7
Find the branch HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} ShellFolder to change the name of the "Trash" folder.
Step 8
Change the value of the CallForAttributes parameter to 0. Change the value of Attributes 40 01 00 20 to 50 01 00 20. This operation will create the Rename option in the Trash context menu. Apply "Rename" and specify the desired folder name.
Step 9
Return to the Registry Editor to remove the Trash shortcut from your desktop.
Step 10
Find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerNameSpace branch and delete the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} subkey. Refresh your desktop to apply the changes. An alternative way to remove the Trash icon from the desktop is to use the Group Policy snap-in.
Step 11
Return to the Registry Editor and enter gpedit.msc in the Open field.
Step 12
Select User Configuration and go to Administrative Templates. Select Desktop and select Remove Kozin Icon From Desktop.
Step 13
Confirm your choice with the OK button.
