DVD is a very popular storage medium. You can record music, movies on it, use it as a flash drive and save different types of files on it. But in addition to all the advantages, these media have some disadvantages: over time, they are overwritten and scratched, even if you use them carefully. Fortunately, damaged disks can be recovered, although often with partial loss of information.

Necessary

  • - computer;
  • - damaged DVD;
  • - SuperCopy program.

Instructions

Step 1

The main criterion for the successful recovery of information from a DVD is the degree of damage to this information carrier. If there are only a few scratches on it, chances are there will be little or no information loss. But if the disk is badly wiped or scratched, data loss can be substantial.

Step 2

To recover information from a disk, you need SuperCopy. This program is non-commercial, you can download it for free. It takes up little space - less than one megabyte and does not require installation. You will also need a blank disk to overwrite the recovered information on it.

Step 3

Insert the damaged disc into your computer's optical drive. Start SuperCopy. Then select "File" in the program window. In the menu that appears, select the "Select file to copy" line. A search box will appear. Specify the path to the optical drive where the damaged disc is located. Then select the files you want to recover. Then click "Open". After the files are selected, select "File" in the program window again, but this time click on "Select file to save" and specify the folder where the recovered files should be saved.

Step 4

Now select "Settings" in the main menu of the program. An arrow is located under the "Reading Direction" line. Click on it with the left mouse button, and in the menu click on "Read first forward, then backward." This method of disk reading recovers the maximum amount of information from damaged disk media. Further in the line "Error handling" uncheck the box and click OK. Then choose Copy from the main SuperCopy menu. The process of copying files from the damaged disk will begin.

Step 5

At the bottom of the main window of the program there is a "Progress bar". Once the streak reaches the end, the process is complete. Any files that can be recovered will be saved in the folder of your choice. They can now be overwritten to a blank disc.
