It is necessary

  • - Wi-Fi router;
  • - network cable.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose and buy a Wi-Fi router that can create wireless networks that your laptop can connect to. It is necessary to pay attention to the basic parameters of the network device: types of radio signal and security.

Step 2

Connect the Wi-Fi router to an AC power supply and turn on this equipment. Find an Internet or WAN connector and connect an Internet access cable to it. Now, using a network cable, which is usually supplied as standard equipment, connect the LAN port of the router and the laptop's network card.

Step 3

Turn on both devices. After the laptop has finished booting, launch an internet browser. Fill in the url entry field by entering the Wi-Fi router's IP address. Press the Enter key. After opening the network equipment settings menu, go to the WAN (Internet) item.

Step 4

Set up your internet connection in the same way as you would set up a direct cable connection. Don't forget to check the boxes next to DHCP, Firewall and NAT to activate them. Click the Save or Apply button to save the settings.

Step 5

Now go to Wi-Fi (Wireless Settings). Configure the settings for the wireless access point using the following information: SSID (Name), security type, radio signal type, and password. Enter a strong password to prevent your wireless network from being hacked.

Step 6

Save the parameters of the created wireless access point. Restart the Wi-Fi router by disconnecting it from the AC power supply for a few seconds. Wait for the router to establish a connection with the server. Check if your internet connection is active.

Step 7

Disconnect the network cable from the laptop. Activate search for Wi-Fi hotspots. Connect to the newly created wireless network. Make sure your internet connection is active and stable.
