Step 1
First, choose the right equipment. If you plan to include devices that support wireless networks in the future network, then purchase a Wi-Fi router. Install this device in an open area and connect the power supply to it.
Step 2
Plug the Internet cable into the Internet (DSL, WAN) connector. Now, using a network cable, connect the LAN (Ethernet) connector of the router to the same channel of the network card of one of the computers or laptops.
Step 3
Turn on the equipment connected to the Wi-Fi router. Launch your internet browser. Open the instructions for the router and find the value for the IP address of this device. Enter this value into the browser and press the Enter key.
Step 4
To gain access to the equipment settings, enter the login and password, the meaning of which you can also find in the instructions. Now open the WAN menu. Following the recommendations of your ISP, adjust the settings of this menu to access the Internet. Save your entries.
Step 5
Go to the Wi-Fi or Wireless Setup menu. Create your own wireless hotspot. To do this, enter its name, select a security type and set a password. Save the settings for this menu. Reboot the Wi-Fi router if this operation is not done automatically. In older models, this requires the power to be disconnected from the device.
Step 6
Log in to the web-based interface of the router's Wi-Fi settings again. Open the Status menu and make sure the device can access the internet.
Step 7
Use network cables to connect desktops to the Ethernet (LAN) ports on the router. Connect laptops and netbooks to a Wi-Fi hotspot. Make sure that all devices have access to other computers on the network and the Internet.
