Many users face the need to take a screenshot (a snapshot of the screen) from time to time. It is worth noting that many immediately start looking for various specific programs that are designed to create screenshots. But is there such an urgent need for this?

In most cases, of course, not - since it is quite possible to get by with the standard built-in tools of the Windows operating system. And it is not at all necessary to install additional software on the computer, even if it has the widest possibilities. So, first you should pay attention to the keyboard - there is a special Print Screen (PrtScn) key on it, which is designed to "take pictures" of the screen.

It is located in most cases in the upper right corner of the keyboard. There are two ways to use this key. If you just press the Print Screen key, a "photo" of the entire screen will be taken (along with all open windows, active and inactive). If you press Print Screen in combination with the Alt key, only one window will be “photographed” - the one that is currently active. After pressing a key or key combination, the picture, which is the finished screenshot, will be created and placed on the clipboard. In order to use it in any way (for example, send it by mail), you need to extract the picture from the clipboard using a graphical editor.

The simplest version of the graphic editor is the Paint editor already built into the operating system. It does not differ in complexity and multifunctionality, but its capabilities will be enough to work with a screenshot. Another option is to insert the "screenshot" into the open desired application (for example, into the text editor Word). After pasting a picture from the clipboard into a file, you need to process it (if necessary), and then save the file to a convenient location on your computer.
