Photographs that are ordinary and familiar to everyone do not always satisfy the owners - from time to time everyone wants to place their image on the seashore or on the streets of a beautiful city. Even if in reality you do not have such an opportunity, you can replace the background of your photo in Adobe Photoshop, faithfully depicting any landscape behind your back. This can be done in two different ways.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the desired photo in Photoshop and first duplicate the Background layer (Duplicate Layer). Unlock the background layer by double clicking on the lock icon to the left of the layer icon. If the silhouette of the figure in the photo is quite even, and does not have too complex and multifaceted contours, select the Magnetic Lasso Tool from the toolbar.

Step 2

Click the left mouse button on any point of the contour of the figure in the photo, and begin to carefully draw a line along the silhouette. The nodes of the selected path will automatically be drawn to the path, therefore, to use this tool, the shape must be in contrast to the background.

Step 3

Adjust the direction of the line from time to time with mouse clicks. Connect the ends of the line by closing the selection outline, and after that press the key combination Ctrl + Shift + I, or open the Select menu and select the Inverse function.

Step 4

The selection is inverted, and now you just have to press Delete to make the background disappear, and you have only a human figure at your disposal, which can be placed on any other background. If you notice any remaining background areas, erase them with the eraser tool.

Step 5

The Magnetic Lasso Tool is not suitable for use in cases where the image has a complex outline - for example, when it is necessary to select fluttering hair or a lush hairstyle from the main background along with the figure. In this case, select the Background Eraser Tool from the toolbar - an eraser that allows you to erase the background image. Set the Tolerance parameter to 25% and select the desired brush size.

Step 6

Gently erase the background around the shape with the eraser, highlighting the intricate paths. With the background completely erased, copy the person's shape to a new layer and use it for your photomontage.
