In many organizations, the Internet is connected to only one or two computers, and the rest of the computers on the network do not have access to the Internet. However, some programs need to download updates from time to time. One of these programs is Kaspersky Anti-Virus. If the program is not provided with fresh databases, at least once a week, it will lose its relevance, and the efficiency of work will significantly decrease. The way out of this situation is to configure a common update server for the network.
It is necessary
- - the Internet;
- - a computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the computer that will act as the update server. It can be any computer, even one that does not have access to the Internet. The main thing is that it is always online and available to other computers. You can also use any of the Windows operating systems on it.
Step 2
On a computer with Internet access, open the Kaspersky Anti-Virus program and select the "Settings" item. Go to the Update tab - it is marked with a miniature globe. This column is responsible for all updates that occur in the program. You will need to make some settings in order for the update server to work in full-fledged mode.
Step 3
Check the box next to "Copy updates to folder" and specify the folder on the update server, having previously opened access to it. If the same computer will act as the update server, select any folder and open access to it over the network. That is, you will have a shared folder from where any computer using the local network can download updates without using the Internet.
Step 4
Run Kaspersky Anti-Virus on the computer that needs updates. Go to the update options, but this time click the "Update source" button. In the window that appears, uncheck the "Kaspersky Lab update servers" item and click the "Add" button at the top of the window. Specify the network folder on the update server, that is, the folder where all anti-virus software updates are saved and click "OK".
Step 5
Test your changes by updating Kaspersky Anti-Virus over the network. Keep an eye on the timely updating of the databases of a computer that has an Internet connection, as well as copying the databases to the network update folder. Try to update the signature databases about twice a week to keep computers safe at all times.
