The operating systems of the Windows family have an "Automatic Updates" service. Some users deliberately disable the system update function for various reasons: someone does not have an Internet connection, someone has a slow connection, etc. One way or another, this question remains relevant day after day.
Necessary
Disable the "Automatic Updates" service
Instructions
Step 1
Automatic updates are used to receive important and critical updates. This service does not update the operating system version, but its constituent components. If you have an Internet connection and there is no automatic update, there is a risk of malicious objects penetrating your computer.
Step 2
To change the parameters for starting the "Automatic Updates" service or completely deactivating it, click on the "Start" button. In the menu that opens, select the "Control Panel" item.
Step 3
You will see a window in which you can control the operation of many applications, as well as configure the system and its appearance. Find the item "Windows Update" and double-click on the icon with the left mouse button or press the Enter key.
Step 4
In the "Windows Update" window that opens, find the link "Options settings", which is located on the left side of the window. Click it to go to configuring update settings.
Step 5
Go to the "Important updates" section and select "Do not check for updates (not recommended)". If you do not want to receive notifications about new updates for the system, uncheck the boxes "Receive recommended updates" and "Allow all users to install updates on this computer."
Step 6
Click the "OK" button to apply the changes. The "Automatic Updates" service has been completely disabled. To restore the "Automatic Updates" service, follow the same steps by checking the boxes next to "Receive recommended updates" and "Allow all users to install updates on this computer."
Step 7
All steps in this manual are intended for the Windows 7 operating system (similar to the steps in Windows Vista).
