Step 1
It's good if the system asked you for permission before downloading updates, but it also happens that all paid traffic suddenly goes to download updates that are irrelevant to you! You can deal with this, but there are two necessary steps to follow.
Step 2
First you need to open the "Start" menu and go to the "Control Panel" section. You will find yourself in a section from which you can adjust the settings of the operating system. If your control panel is switched to the classic view, you should find a section called "Automatic Updates", and if not, first go to the "Security Center" and only then go to "System Update".
Likewise, you can get to the "Automatic Updates" section by clicking on the "My Computer" shortcut on your desktop, selecting "Properties", and going to the "Automatic Updates" tab.
Here you should activate the item "Disable automatic system updates". Automatic updating may already be disabled, but you know it works! This happens often. In order to completely deactivate the automation, you have to do something else.
Step 3
You will need to right-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and select the line "Manage services" from the menu that appears. The control panel for all services and processes on your computer will open in front of you. You should find a line with the name "Automatic update", right-click on this line, and select "Stop". Automatic updates are now completely disabled.
