The disadvantage of automatic updates is that using it on unlicensed operating systems often leads to their deactivation. The computer screen turns black, the user sees a threatening warning that he is using an unlicensed operating system. In addition, even on licensed Windows, updating sometimes leads to system inoperability. Finally, many users do not like it when the computer does something without their knowledge and disable automatic updates.

To turn off automatic updates, in Windows XP open: "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Automatic Updates". In the window that opens, check the "Disable automatic update" item and click OK. Now find in the Control Panel the item "Administrative Tools" - "Services". In the list of services, find "Automatic update", open the service window.
