The modern Opera browser is quite easy to use, and therefore very popular among users. If you have one of the latest versions of the application, and even in English, it will be difficult for you to find a place in the browser settings where you can turn off automatic updates.
Necessary
- - computer;
- - administrator rights.
Instructions
Step 1
Open your Opera browser. In the address bar (where you type the site address - say, mail.ru) type opera: config and press enter on the keyboard. You will be taken to the application fine-tuning menu. This menu is mainly called manually, since such settings are not indicated in the main browser panel.
Step 2
Find the Auto Update item (usually the second in order) and expand that item so that the setting items are available. Set the Auto Update State parameter to zero if you disable automatic updates at all. However, it should be noted that automatic updates were introduced into the program by the developers so that the user could always receive new versions of the program in real time. If you disable this function, various problems with the display of sites may occur.
Step 3
In the Add-ons Check Interval and Update Check Interval items, the interval is set after which the application will ask the server if there are new updates and additions. Unfortunately, the maximum parameter size is only 30 days, and it is specified in seconds. Set the value to 2,592,000 seconds in both points, which equals 30 days.
Step 4
Save your changes by clicking on the Save button at the bottom of the area of this section. Opera will confirm that all changes to the program are fully saved. It is also worth noting that this software will warn you that you will need to restart the application to change some settings. Other parameters of this item, as well as other configuration items are available in the Opera help by the link https://www.opera.com/support/usingopera/operaini. You can call the help page by clicking on the Help link at the beginning of the settings page.
