Before the invention of photography, people, events and landscapes were depicted on the canvases of artists, engravings, stained glass windows, and tapestries. Famous portraits of historical figures and ordinary people are kept in museums, and photographs have replaced huge family portraits. You can, of course, have your portrait commissioned by a portrait painter, if time and money permits. But you can choose the easier way. Making a portrait from a photo!

Instructions

Step 1

Open the photo you want to turn into a portrait in Photoshop. Duplicate the layer in the layers palette. Click on the duplicate layer with the left mouse button to make it active.

Step 2

From the Filter menu, select the Paint Daubs filter. In the window that opens, select the brush size, sharpness, brush type. Adjust the options until you are satisfied with the look of the image. Click OK.

Step 3

An image stylized as an oil painting opened in the working window. Now slightly change the opacity of the top layer. To do this, on the Layers palette, move the Opacity slider to 80%. The image has become much more realistic.

Step 4

It remains to apply a texture that creates a canvas effect. To do this, select Texture - Texturizer from the Filter menu. In the window that opens, select a texture and parameters for scale, relief and light. In this work, the scale is 58%, the relief is 5, the texture is canvas. Click OK.

Step 5

Flatten the layers and save the image in the format you need. The portrait of "Girl with a Cat" is ready!
