System rollback (restore) is an effective tool if you mistakenly installed the wrong program and it reconfigured the operating system that stopped working correctly. It also helps if the application was installed incorrectly, viruses were caught, or a software crash occurred. System rollback in Windows Vista can solve many problems.
Instructions
Step 1
To restore the system when it is up and running, go to the Start menu. There, select the "All Programs" tab, in them find the "Standard" directory. You need the "System Tools" tab, in which you can select one of the functions, among them you will find "System Restore". Select this item.
Step 2
Windows Vista will ask you what action you need to take: restore an earlier system state or create a rollback point. Choose to restore an earlier state.
Step 3
A window will open showing a calendar and a list of all available restore points. It is better not to select old points, as they most likely will not have any important applications installed over the past time. Choose the point that is closest to the time of making changes that adversely affect the performance of your system. The point must be earlier than these changes.
Step 4
For cases where you cannot boot the operating system, there are other methods to rollback Windows Vista. You need to boot into Safe Mode. Restart or turn on your computer. Just before the operating system starts loading, press the F8 key until the boot menu appears. Select the "Safe Mode" line there.
Step 5
When the system has booted into safe mode, as usual, choose to rollback the system.
Step 6
If it did not work to boot into safe mode, then press F8 again to restart the system, this time select "Load the last good configuration". This will start your system as it was last when it booted safely. Once the download has occurred, you can roll back the system.
