There are several proven methods to increase the power of your Wi-Fi link. This is usually accomplished by amplifying the transmitter rather than the adapter receiving the signal.
Instructions
Step 1
Try strengthening your Wi-Fi signal reception first. It is best to do this without any technical intervention in the laptop. Disable the features that enable the adapter's economy mode. Open the Control Panel menu and navigate to System and Security. Now find and open the Power Options menu. Choose the laptop plan you use when connecting to wireless hotspots.
Step 2
Click the Configure Power Plan button. Now select "Change advanced power settings". Find the Wireless Adapter Settings menu and expand it. Now open the Power Saving Mode menu. Select the "Maximum Performance" option on battery and mains power. Save power settings.
Step 3
Now try increasing the power of your Wi-Fi router. Naturally, the easiest and most logical way is to purchase a more powerful device. Unfortunately, this approach is costly. So start by purchasing a better antenna. Most routers have their own antennas that can be easily removed.
Step 4
Investigate the type of antenna attachment to the equipment. Purchase a device with the same mount and connect it to your router. If the result does not suit you, then try using the available means to amplify the signal. Expose the top of the antenna so you can connect a wire to it.
Step 5
Take a piece of metal cable and solder it to the exposed part of the antenna. Connect its other end to the computer system unit. In this case, it is better to connect to the back of the unit so that the signal propagates in the direction opposite to the wall. As an alternative to the system unit, you can use a metal curtain.
