The standard tools included in the Windows installation distribution allow the user to view and edit the system registry entries on the computer. Chief among them is the "Registry Editor".
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to enter the main menu of the system and go to "Run".
Step 2
Enter regedit in the Open field and press Enter to enter Registry Editor.
Step 3
Expand the registry tree by clicking on the "+" sign next to the selected folder to view or edit the registry values.
Step 4
Use a double mouse click on the field of the selected parameter in the right part of the "Registry Editor" window to open the "Change string parameter" dialog box to edit the selected registry value.
Step 5
Use the right mouse click on the field of the selected variable to call the service menu, which allows you to expand, create a new, rename or delete the required parameter
Step 6
Use the main RegEdit menu located at the top of the application window.
Step 7
Determine the required action and use the items in the "Registry" section to
- opening the local registry;
- completion of the current registry;
- loading the registry hive specified on the disk for further editing;
- unloading of the selected bush;
- restoring a previously saved copy;
- saving the selected section to a file;
- connections to a remote computer
- printing the registry branch;
- choosing a printer;
- saving the registry branch as text;
- exit.
Step 8
Determine the action you want and use the items in the "Edit" section to
- adding a section;
- adding a parameter of the specified type to the selected section;
- deleting the selected object.
Step 9
Determine the required action and use the points in the "Structure" section to
- expanding the selected section without expanding subsections;
- disclosure of the selected section with all subsections;
- expanding all sections of the active field;
- collapse of the selected section.
Step 10
Define the required action and use the items in the "View" section to
- managing the appearance of the registry editor;
- setting the size of the fields of the active window;
- output of binary data;
- updates of all open windows;
- updates only the active window;
- search for the specified section in the active window.
Step 11
Define the action you want and use the items in the Security section to set the permissions to access the section.
Step 12
Define the required action and use the items in the Parameters section to
- selection of the used font;
- enable automatic updating of the contents of open windows;
- disable saving registry changes;
- confirmation of deletion;
- saving editor settings when closing the application.
