Avast is a well-known antivirus program that does a pretty good job of protecting your computer from malware. However, removing it, if the need arises, will not be easier than some annoying Trojan.
Instructions
Step 1
To remove Avast, its developers wrote a special utility aswclear.exe. You can download it from the link
Install the program on your computer. Click Start, Shut Down and Restart. After a short beep, press the F8 key. In the "Boot Options Menu" select "Safe Mode".
Step 2
Run the executable file aswclear.exe. In the Select product to uninstall field, expand the list by clicking on the triangle pointing down, and select the name of the name of your version of Avast. If required, specify the network path to the folder where you installed this program. Click the Uninstall button. The progress will be displayed in the Uninstall progress window. After uninstalling the program, answer “Yes” to the request to restart the computer.
Step 3
If you immediately used this utility, Avast will be successfully removed. However, if before that there were attempts to delete the program folder from the Program Files directory, traces may remain in the registry that will prevent the installation of another antivirus program. Boot your computer in Safe Mode. From the Start menu, click Run and type regedit at the command prompt.
Step 4
In Registry Editor, on the Edit menu, click Find and type Avast in the search box. Check the boxes next to Section Names and Parameter Names.
Right-click on the found branch, select the "Permissions" option from the context menu. In the window "Groups or users" check your account, in the window "Permissions" check the box next to the item "Full access" and click OK to confirm.
Step 5
Delete the found folder by clicking Delete.
Repeat the search by choosing the "Find Next" command from the "Edit" menu. Remove all found traces of Avast.
Step 6
You can clean the registry using special programs - for example, RegCleaner. Run the program. Select "Search" from the main menu. Enter Avast into the window. Remove all found items. Go to the Startup menu and remove everything related to Avast from there.
