Demotivators are images on a black background in a white frame with an inscription expressing the author's attitude to any event or person. The inscription is usually shocking or just humorous. Demotivators appeared as a parody of public service announcements and propaganda posters urging readers to comply with ideologically verified norms of behavior.
How to make a demotivator using online services
Many Internet resources offer services for creating demotivators, for example, the site Demotivators.ru.
The algorithm for creating demotivators on other sites is no different from the one described.
Select the source image: a portrait of a person or an animal, a landscape, a snapshot of an event, a frame from a video clip, etc. If the picture is on your computer, on the first page, click on the link “I want to upload an image from my computer”. In the new window, click "Browse" and specify the path to the image, then click "Continue".
If you want to use a picture from the Internet, you need its URL. To save space and traffic on sites, he usually places not the image itself, but a preview, i.e. small copy. Click on the picture to see it in full size. Then right-click on the image and select "Copy Image Link" from the context menu.
Return to Demotivators.ru and right-click on the "Image URL (URL)" field. In the context menu, click "Insert" and click "Continue". In the next screen, select the type of poster - regular or classic, and enter the title and text of the motivator. If you specify a normal poster type, the lettering font will be assigned by default. To choose the type of inscription yourself, choose the classic type.
After entering the text, click "Preview" to see the result. If everything suits you, you can save the picture to your media or upload it to the site.
Before uploading a demotivator to the Internet, make sure that its text and image do not contradict the laws of the country.
How to make demotivators yourself
You can create a demotivator yourself, for example, using the free graphics editor Paint.net. Create a new file and fill the background layer with black using the Paint Bucket tool. If you want to use an image from the Internet, download it to your computer. To do this, open the picture in full size, right-click on it and select the "Save Image As" command from the context menu.
Click on the Add New Layer icon in the layers panel. In the "File" menu, select the "Open" item and specify the path to the desired picture. Press Ctrl + C to load the image to the clipboard. Go back to the image with a black background layer, activate the top transparent layer and paste the image with the keys Ctrl + V. Drag the picture to the center with the Move Selection Tool.
Create a new layer, fill it with white and click on the "Bring Layer Down" icon in the layers panel. Select the white layer with the Rectangular Marquee Tool and press M on your keyboard. Hold Shift, alternately grab the corner handles on the selection with the mouse and drag them to the center of the picture to reduce the size of the white canvas. It should turn into a narrow frame around the picture. Hit Enter.
Again create a new layer and press T on the toolbar. The foreground color should be white. Adjust the font size on the property bar and enter a title for the demotivator. Hold the direction marker, move the text under the picture and press Esc. Create another layer and enter the explanatory text in a smaller font. Place it under the heading.
