If you use an ADSL modem to connect to the Internet, you should know that the modem can be configured in two modes. These modes are called bridge and router. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. But if you plan to connect only one computer to the Internet, then it is preferable to configure the modem in bridge mode. Bridge mode connects your computer directly to the internet.

Step 1
Enter Route print on the command line. Your modem ip-address will appear. Then type in the address bar of any Internet browser after https:// your ip-address of the modem, then - your username and password. If you have not changed them before, then by default both login and password will be Admin. Then select the Quick Setup option and uncheck the box next to the Auto-Connect line.

Now insert the required VCI and VPI parameters, they depend on your ISP. After entering the required parameters, click Next. Next, select the Connection Type tab and the Bridging setting mode, and then click Next. Check the box next to Enable Bridge Service and proceed. In the next window, leave the default settings and go ahead again. After that, go to the WAN Setup tab and save the settings by clicking Save / Reboot.
Step 3
The modem is now configured in bridge mode. It remains to create an Internet connection. To do this, go to the "Network Connections" folder. A "Local Area Connection" should be automatically created in it. If its status is "Disabled", connect it. Then launch the "New Connection Wizard" shortcut. In the window that appears, select "Connect to the Internet", then - "Set up a connection manually."
Step 4
Next, select a high-speed connection with a name and password. Then enter the name of the Internet connection and proceed further. In the window that appears, enter the login and password that were provided by your Internet provider. In the final window, check the line "Add shortcut to desktop" and click "Finish".
Step 5
In the next window that appears, select "Properties" and then the "Network" tab. Highlight the TCP / IP option and click Properties. Then check the box "Use the following DNS server addresses". Enter the addresses you received from your ISP. Save all settings and close the windows. You can now connect to the internet using your desktop shortcut.
