Cables for connecting computers with switches and routers often have to be made independently. Soldering is not used in this case. The cable is embroidered, the conductors are installed in the connector, after which they are crimped.

It is necessary

  • - KSSPV or UTP cable of the required length;
  • - nippers;
  • - two RJ-45 connectors;
  • - special tool for crimping connectors.

Instructions

Step 1

Purchase a special crimping tool for RJ-45 connectors. It can be called "crimp", "crimp", "press pliers", crimper, etc. When purchasing, make sure that it is designed for these connectors. You cannot carry out this operation without it. Conventional pliers and other improvised means for its implementation will not work.

Step 2

Grasp the end of the cable. Carefully remove the shell from it. Do not remove the insulation from the wires themselves, since special miniature knives, which, when crimped, will carry out this operation automatically, are located inside the connector.

Step 3

Rotate the connector with the pull lever downwards, with the gold-plated contacts facing away from you. The first output will be on the left.

Step 4

If you need a cable to connect a computer to a switch, hub or router, sew the connectors on both ends of the cord in the same way:

1 - orange-white;

2 - orange;

3 - green and white;

4 - blue;

5 - blue and white;

6 - green;

7 - brown-white;

8 - brown.

Step 5

If you need to connect either two computers or any two network devices (router, switch, hub) to each other, assemble a crossover cable. To make it, connect one of the connectors in the same way as in the previous case. Connect the second connector like this:

1 - green and white;

2 - green;

3 - orange-white;

4 - blue;

5 - blue and white;

6 - orange;

7 - brown-white;

8 - brown.

Step 6

Insert the connector into the crimping tool. The ribbed side of the connector next to the gold-plated contacts should touch the surface of the working part of the tool, which has the same shape. Gently squeeze the tool until you hear a click. Do not put too much effort on it. Then take an ohmmeter (or any multifunctional measuring instrument operating in ohmmeter mode) and attach a pin to each of its probes. Ring the cable, then start using it.
