There are several methods to increase the video memory in a laptop. Most often, to increase the performance of a mobile computer, a discrete video card is added to it.
Necessary
- - access to the Internet;
- - crosshead screwdriver.
Instructions
Step 1
There are two types of video adapters installed in laptops: integrated (internal) and discrete (separate). The acceleration of the integrated graphics card is achieved by adding RAM. Carry out this process. Purchase a suitable memory card and install it in your laptop.
Step 2
Despite the large amount of memory on the integrated video adapters, they cannot cope with most heavy applications. In order to be able to play games that require a powerful video card, install a discrete video adapter.
Step 3
Examine the specifications of the motherboard installed in your laptop. Find the type of slot that the full graphics card connects to. If this information is not in the instructions for the motherboard, find it on the website of your laptop manufacturer.
Step 4
Get the right graphics card. Disassemble the laptop by unscrewing the required number of mounting screws. Examine the connected cables very carefully until the bottom cover is completely removed.
Step 5
Connect a full-fledged video card to its dedicated connector. Reconnect all previously disconnected cables and reassemble the laptop. Turn on this device.
Step 6
Install full drivers for your new graphics card. Please note that using a discrete video adapter requires more power. This means your laptop will run significantly less on a single charge. To be able to switch video adapters, install a special program.
Step 7
If an Intel processor is installed in the laptop, then the video adapter will be changed automatically. If you are using an ATI (AMD) processor, then visit the website www.ati.com and download AMD Engine Control Center from there. Install it and restart your laptop
Step 8
Launch the program and select "Low GPU Power Consumption" to enable the internal graphics card.
