Step 1
Configure the Internet connection of the Netgear router. To do this, go to the router control program, select the "Installation" menu item, then "Basic settings". To configure the Internet via DHCP, select the "Do I need to enter connection information when connecting" option, select the "No" checkbox.
Step 2
Do not fill in the fields "Account name", "Domain name". To configure Netgear in DHCP mode, activate the "Obtain from ISP" function in the IP address item, select the same value in the "Domain name server (DNS) address" item.
Step 3
Go to the "MAC address router" field, enter the physical address of your computer. Or set the address from the router, you can find it out from the sticker located on the bottom of the router. After selecting all the necessary items, click on the "Apply" button to save and apply the settings of the Netgear router.
Step 4
Check the performance of the settings made, go to the "Save" menu, select the "Router status" option. The "Internet port" field will display the router's connection to the Internet and the received address from the provider. Configuration of the router in DHCP mode is completed.
Step 5
Configure your router to work with a PPTP VPN connection. Go to the menu "Installation" - "Basic settings". In the "Connection method" item, select PPTP, in the "Username" field, specify the login that is in the agreement with the provider, fill in the "Password" field in the same way.
Step 6
In the "My IP-address" field, enter the address given to you under the contract. Also, the values from the contract are used to fill in the fields "Subnet mask", "Server address", "Gateway address", "DNS address". Enter your value (router address) in the "Router MAC address" field. Then click the "Apply" button to save the router settings.
Step 7
Configure Netgear routing, select Experienced, then Static Routers. Here you need to fill in the routing table, routes for your specific case need to be obtained from the provider. To create a rule in the table, click the "Add" button. Next, fill in the information from the contract (address, subnet mask, gateway address), check the "Active" box and click the "Apply" button.
