Resetting the BIOS refers to the application of the factory parameters of the motherboard and other computer devices. Typically, this procedure is performed to correct incorrect settings when overclocking a laptop or desktop PC.

Step 1
There are two standard methods used to reset BIOS menu settings. The first allows you to perform this procedure without resorting to mechanical stress on the device. Turn on your Asus mobile computer and press the F2 (Esc) key. When a new dialog box appears, select Start BIOS and press Enter.
Step 2
Wait for the motherboard menu to load. Open the Main tab, if this did not happen automatically. Use the arrows on your keyboard to highlight Use Default Settings or Set BIOS Default. Press the Enter key. Confirm the reset by pressing the Y key.
Step 3
Now highlight the Save & Exit item. Press Enter and then Y again. The mobile computer will restart and start with standard settings.
Step 4
Unfortunately, incorrect BIOS menu settings may cause the laptop to automatically shutdown a few seconds after startup. In this case, you need to use a mechanical reset. Turn the mobile computer upside down. Find a small hole next to which is marked CMOS. Slide a ballpoint pen or similar object into it. Hold it in this position for 5-10 seconds.
Step 5
If the manufacturer does not provide a technological hole, then remove the bottom cover of the laptop. To do this, remove all necessary screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Carefully detach the bottom of the case. Remove a few loops from the sockets to avoid damaging the thin wires.
Step 6
Locate the BIOS washer battery and remove it from the slot. In some situations, this battery may be soldered to the contacts. In this case, you will have to replace the battery. Close the contacts and assemble the laptop. Turn on the device and perform a soft reset of the BIOS settings.
