Instructions

Step 1

First, determine what type of dynamic RAM your laptop motherboard supports. This can be read in the technical documentation that came with the computer. Find out which memory you need for your laptop - DDR SDRAM, DDR2 SDRAM, or DDR3 SDRAM.

Step 2

If you did not find the documentation and did not find the markings on the RAM card that is already in the laptop, you can determine the type of RAM by installing a diagnostic program (for example, Everest or Aida) on your computer.

Step 3

The operating frequency is responsible for the performance of RAM. Once you have identified the correct type of RAM, determine the required operating frequency that will suit your laptop. If you install an additional memory card, leaving the first in the laptop, make sure that the operating frequency of both slots coincides. This is necessary for the stable joint operation of the two RAMs. The frequency should not exceed the maximum supported by your motherboard.

Step 4

To install the purchased RAM card, unplug the laptop, remove the battery and find the cover on the back of the case that covers the RAM compartment. Usually such a cover is specially marked with markings for easy addition of accessories, and it is easy to remove it by unscrewing the screws with a screwdriver. Insert a new memory card into an empty slot and snap into place. To remove the memory card, bend the fasteners and pull the card out.

Step 5

After installation, replace the compartment cover, tighten the screws, insert the battery into the laptop and connect it to the mains to check if new RAM is installed in the system.
