There are times when too little memory is allocated to the C drive, which is the system drive by default, when partitioning the hard drive. Of course, you can completely delete all partitions and allocate memory in a new way. But there is an easier way out: take the memory on the D drive and transfer it to the C drive.

It is necessary

Norton PartitionMagic 8.0

Instructions

Step 1

To work, you need Norton PartitionMagic 8.0. Find it on the internet and download it. The program is paid, but there is a trial period for its use. Install the application on your computer.

Step 2

Run the program. After that, you will see that the main menu has a list of all sections. Right-click on section D and select Resize / Move from the context menu. In the line "New size" specify the new size of the disk accordingly. Please note that you can only take free space. For example, the size of the D disk is 200 gigabytes, of which 80 gigabytes is free. By specifying the new size of 150 gigabytes, you will free up 50 gigabytes of space, which can be added to the C drive, and there will now be 30 gigabytes of free space on the D drive.

Step 3

You can also enter the required amount of disk space in the "Free space" line. After that, it will be automatically "taken" from disk D. After the new size is selected, click OK. You now have free disk space.

Step 4

Further in the main menu of the program in the upper section "Select a task" find the option called "Allocation of free space". In the first window, you can read the introductory information. Then click "Next". In the next window, mark your C drive and move on. In the last window, just click Finish.

Step 5

After that, the procedure for allocating free disk space starts. All you have to do is wait for this operation to complete. Do not interrupt the distribution operation. In some cases, it can take quite a long time. It all depends on the type of your hard drive, its file system, and the amount of disk space you are throwing away. After redistributing free space, the computer will restart. Now the size of the C drive will be larger.
