Moving a site to another hosting can be compared to moving to a new apartment. You must first pack things (data), move them to another location (new hosting), unpack and put them in the right places (unpack and configure files).
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest way is to ask technical support to help you with the move. Many companies provide a similar service and, moreover, may provide some discount if you switch to them from competitors. In this case, you need to give your username and password from the old hosting, as well as the necessary data regarding the databases.
Step 2
Change DNS server. It shows website visitors on which IP your resource is located. In this regard, changing the DNS is a top priority. To do this, you need to go to the site of the new hosting, find out the address of your DNS server, then go to the control panel of the domain registrar and change the data. As a rule, you need to specify 2 DNS servers. In some cases, the hosting sends this data to the mail, in some it indicates immediately when the tariff is connected.
Step 3
Next, you need to transfer the site files. It is best to archive them in advance (if the hosting control panel allows it), and then download them. An FTP client (such as FileZilla or FAR) is required to download. In some cases, the function of such a client can be performed by a browser (it all depends on the hosting control panel). Do not interrupt the download operation, as the absence of even a small file can significantly affect the operation of the resource.
Step 4
Then you need to download the database. If your resource works without its support, then you can skip this step. Go to your hosting control panel and import the old database. If you have the phpMyAdmin package installed on your hosting, then you can significantly facilitate your work by archiving the database in advance. The fact is that many databases weigh a lot, and the archive allows you to compress their size tenfold.
Step 5
Go to your new hosting control panel and find the data for the FTP protocol. If there is a "file manager", select it. Upload your site files (don't forget to unzip if needed). Then go to your database management system and export. In some panels, the system will unzip the database on its own. If there is no such feature, you will have to do it yourself.
Step 6
After a while, DNS servers will be assigned to your domain and the site will become available. Check its performance: whether all pages open, whether the design has moved out, whether the admin panel is working normally. If you have any problems, check the files. Perhaps something was not copied completely or with an error.
