When assembling the system unit of a computer, it becomes a frequent problem to connect the main buttons: Power and Reset, as well as light indicators located on the front side. However, connecting the power button, without which the computer will not turn on, is quite simple. It is not even necessary to have a user manual for this.

Instructions

Step 1

After installing the motherboard inside the system unit and fixing it with the mounting screws, find 2 rows of special small pins on it. Most often they are located on the side of the board parallel to the front cover of the unit. These pins (hereinafter we will call them pin-contacts) are signed with different letter symbols, for example, POWER_LED, HDD_LED, POW_ON, SPEAKER, etc.

Step 2

Accordingly, each of these pins is designed to connect a separate diode or button. The connection is made using special wires coming from the corresponding devices in the system unit. Thus, through this interface are connected:

• Reset button;

• Power button;

• Power light;

• HDD operation lamp;

• Speaker of the system unit and some other devices (for details, see the motherboard user manual, which can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website).

Step 3

To connect the power button to the motherboard, look for the POW_ON identifier in the pins. Select the one marked with the same symbols from the wires of the system unit. Observing the polarity, connect the wire with the contacts. However, polarity can be observed at random. Once connected, press the Power button. If the computer does not turn on, turn over the pins on the wire.

Step 4

Similarly, you should not only connect the power button, but also other contacts, for example, the Power indicator. The HDD loading indicator is sometimes especially useful - it is good to navigate by it when the computer "freezes". However, you can also easily do without it.
