The need to determine the mask of the network in which the computer is located can be caused by various reasons. Perhaps you need to check your Internet connection settings in case of problems, or maybe you need to configure some kind of network application. Even if it seems difficult to you, then in practice you yourself will see that everything is much simpler.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to find out the network mask in the standard way, open the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel". When you click on this menu item, you will be taken to the "command center" of your computer. Here you need to find such an item as "Network Connections" (looks like an icon with a globe drawn on it and a network cable stuck into it). Double-click the icon.
Step 2
When you open the Network Connections window, you can see many icons, each of which represents a particular network connection. If you have one network card, and the settings were not made by you (but, for example, by your Internet provider), then, most likely, the name of the provider company will be written on the icon, or simply "Internet", etc. Even if you do not know which connection you are using, check everything in turn. As a rule, if the connection is not used, then in its settings (how to access them is indicated in the next step), the settings will be empty.
Step 3
Select the connection you are using and right-click on it by selecting Properties from the menu that opens. Then you will see the main window of network settings for your network card.
Step 4
Select "Internet Protocol (TCP / IP)" from the list. It is usually located at the end of the list. In the window that opens, you will see fields with numbers, one of which will have the name "Subnet mask". These are the numbers you needed.
Step 5
You can use the command line to find out your Internet settings and netmask among them. To do this, go to the Start menu and select Run.
In the window that appears, type “cmd” and press the Enter key.
Step 6
Write the command “ipconfig” and press Enter, after which you will see a list of your network connection settings. The list first contains the name of the connection, followed by its parameters. You need to find the currently used connection and under its name find the item "Subnet mask".
