One of the general performance metrics of various types of graphics applications is FPS (frames per second). It characterizes the number of generated and output video frames per second. This indicator becomes especially relevant in games where a high frame rate provides a realistic perception of the plot.

Instructions
Step 1
View FPS using the game client capabilities. See the documentation, online help, or visit the developer site and forum. Learn about the features of the game client software you are using. Some game applications may display diagnostic information (including FPS) when they are run with certain command line options. If your game client supports this feature, launch it from the cmd shell window, or using the application shortcut, after adding the necessary command line parameters in the "Object" text box of the properties window. In some games, the FPS display is enabled by modifying the settings. In other words, in order to see the FPS in the game, it is enough to go to the mode of changing the parameters and activate the desired option. Step 2
Start preparing the definition of FPS in the game using the RivaTuner utility kit. Download the RivaTuner distribution package from one of the official distributor sites: guru3d.com or nvworld.ru. Install this software by running the executable module from the distribution archive and following the instructions of the installation wizard

Run and configure the RivaTuner Statistics Server utility. Use the shortcut of the application or download the RTSS.exe module located in the folder with the RivaTuner package installed. In the application window, turn the Show On-Screen Display, On-Screen Display Support, and Show own Statistics switches to ON. You can also select the font size of the FPS indicator using the On-Screen Display Zoom slider
Step 4
Check the FPS in the game with RivaTuner Statistics Server. Launch the game client, make its window active and read the displayed FPS indicator

Prepare to determine FPS using the Fraps utility. Download the distribution kit of this application from the fraps.com developer site. Install the program. Launch Fraps. In the main window, go to the FPS tab. Determine the location of the FPS indicator by selecting one of the options in the black Overlay Corner. Set the keyboard shortcut to show and hide this indicator by clicking the Overlay Display Hotkey text box and pressing the desired keyboard shortcut
Step 6
Watch FPS with Fraps. Start the game and wait for the image to be displayed. Read the FPS readings. If the FPS indicator is not displayed, press the keyboard shortcut that you specified in the previous step.
