Step 1
To find the commands responsible for switching letters to numbers, you need to know the purpose of the keys on the keyboard. Note that some functions can be activated with one key and others by pressing multiple keys. Sometimes the on / off mode is indicated by special indicators.

For example, if you press the "Insert" key, turn on the replacement mode for previously typed characters. The text will be automatically erased, and the new one will be printed over the existing letters. You will not notice the activation of this function, since the indicators do not indicate the pressed "Insert" key.

When the "PageUp" key is pressed, the content of the page will move up, if you clicked "PageDown" - down. Use these buttons to work with text - this is especially convenient when you don't have a mouse.

So, in order to be able to handle the buttons, know that the "NumLock" key is responsible for the operation of the small numeric keypad on standard devices. These numbers are on the right side and look like a regular calculator, they work only when the "NumLock" mode is on. Watch the indicators that are on the upper right, the first light is responsible for this function.

A standard keyboard with “Numlock” enabled when connected to a laptop will automatically enable numeric mode. There is no small numeric keypad on laptops, but there are keys that represent both numbers and letters.

To disable this mode, just press the "NumLock" key on the standard keyboard. However, if you find the same effect when it is already disconnected from the laptop and unavailable, disable the function with the fn + Insert keyboard shortcut.
