An ordinary laptop user does not often have to deal with disassembling his computer equipment, since service centers in our country are already quite common. But nevertheless, it is sometimes not entirely justified to contact a specialist for repairing, in particular, a laptop battery, due to the high cost of this service (compared to buying a new battery).

How to disassemble a laptop battery

It is necessary

  • - knife or screwdriver;
  • - a hammer;
  • - vice;
  • - multimeter;
  • - soldering iron;
  • - spare battery cells;
  • - car light bulb;
  • - cloth gloves;
  • - glue.

Instructions

Step 1

Select the necessary tools with which you will, in the future, disassemble. The minimum set includes a sharp object - it can be a knife (ordinary kitchen or office) or a screwdriver. And also, a hammer, to facilitate the process of disassembling the battery, a vice - to fix the disassembled object in a stationary state and fabric gloves - they help to avoid the ingress of sebum on the elements and protect the hand of the disassembler from mechanical damage.

Step 2

Secure the battery in the retainer. The two parts of the battery are glued to each other along a seam, which is located right in the middle of its side part. Insert a sharp object into it at a 45-degree angle. Begin by tapping lightly on its handle with a hammer or hand. Since the plastic is quite soft, the seam will disperse by itself, but if the glue holds particularly firmly in some place, this part should be cut.

Step 3

Examine the battery cells. Usually in laptops they are used in six or eight parts. If you do not notice any mechanical damage to the cells, and the batteries have not “leaked”, you can try to replace the old elements with new ones that were previously purchased from an online store or from a radio store. To replace the batteries, you will additionally need a multimeter and a soldering iron.

Step 4

Check each item with a multimeter. Each battery should give a value of approximately 3, 7 to 4, 1 V. Discharge the cells - this is necessary so that later all the cells are charged evenly. A car light bulb is suitable for this. After all the battery cells have been discharged, connect them to the retention devices. Fix the latter with each other with a soldering iron. Connect the parts of the battery and glue the seam so that moisture does not get inside. Insert the battery into the laptop and carry out several full charge-discharge cycles.
