If, when working on a computer, you often see the "Not enough virtual memory" window, by analogy with RAM, a solution naturally suggests itself - you need to clear the virtual memory. This is not the right decision. The problem of insufficient virtual memory is solved by completely different methods. But if you are worried about the safety of your secret information: logins, passwords, and so on, then the paging file, or virtual memory, really needs to be cleared.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the Start button. Select Run. In the resulting line, type regedit. You have opened the registry editor, with which you need to be especially careful.
Step 2
Sequentially opening the drop-down menu of folders, clicking on the "+" we go through the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Control / Session Manager / Memory Management.
Step 3
On the right we find the line "ClearPageFileAtShutdown". Select it and call the menu with the right mouse button, select "Change" and enter "1" in the "Value" field. Thus, after each restart of the computer, the virtual memory, and more specifically the paging file, will be cleared.
Step 4
The second solution to the problem, which will lead to the same result, is the following. Click the "Start" button and find "Control Panel".
Step 5
Select the "Administration", "Local Security Policy", "Security Settings", the line "Shutdown: clear the virtual memory page file". Right-click the menu, select Properties and check Enable.
Step 6
Click "Apply", then "OK". Reboot your computer.
