Nowadays it is impossible to imagine an office without modern equipment. But the value of office equipment can be fully appreciated only when it is not functioning. This may cause the printer to fail for various reasons.
Instructions
Step 1
No physical connection has been established. Make sure the printer is plugged into a power outlet and connected to the computer and there are no breaks in the cables. Many printers have a power button on the body. Make sure it is pressed - when the printer is on, the indicator light comes on.
Step 2
The system does not recognize the hardware. For the printer to work, the appropriate software must be installed on the computer. As a rule, the driver comes with the printer. If the installation disc is missing, download the driver from the Internet from the official website of the equipment manufacturer.
Step 3
Start the Add Printer Wizard. To do this, call the "Control Panel" through the "Start" menu. In the "Printers and Other Hardware" category, select the "Add Printer" task or click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon and select this task on the left side of the window. Follow the instructions of the installer. If it does not automatically recognize the printer model and the corresponding driver, please provide the required information yourself.
Step 4
Printing is paused or delayed. If the printer is connected, the system “sees” it, but documents are not printed out, check the printer settings. From the Start menu, open the Printers and Faxes folder. Move the cursor to the printer icon and right-click on it.
Step 5
Check the entry on the third line of the dropdown menu. If the output of documents for printing has been suspended, the line will contain the command "Resume printing" - click on it with the left mouse button. If printing has been postponed, click on the "Use printer online" line (fifth line of the drop-down menu).
Step 6
If the setting is not the cause of the problem, make sure there is paper in the tray. If a document is jammed in the printer, open the housing cover and carefully remove the sheet. Check if the cartridge is full. If the problem is not resolved, contact a service technician.
