Step 2
For AMI BIOS: The processor is defective if the system unit emits 5 short beeps. 7 short beeps mean an error in the virtual mode of the processor. Listen carefully to fully understand the nature of the problem on your computer.

For AST BIOS: an error occurred while checking processor registers if the speaker emitted 1 short beep. This indicates a processor malfunction. In this case, you need to contact specialized support centers, since it is almost impossible to repair the processor yourself or identify any problems in it. You can simply ruin all the hardware of your computer by your own actions.
Step 4
For Award BIOS: if the computer starts beeping in high pitches during operation, the processor is overheated, and the computer needs to be shut down urgently. Alternating low-frequency and high-frequency signals after pressing the computer's power button indicate a processor malfunction or overheating.
Step 5
If your system unit does not give out any beeps, just try replacing the processor with another one or put your processor in a different motherboard. First, make sure that your processor can be installed in another motherboard: their Socket type is the same, and the motherboard supports this processor. As a last resort, you will have to buy a new processor for your computer or repair the old one.
