Watching a movie without voice acting, learning a foreign language by video, hearing problems - in all these cases, subtitling is required. Subtitles for many films can be found on the Internet in srt format.
Necessary
- subtitle file;
- VobSub filter;
- media player
Instructions
Step 1
Unlike embedded subtitles, plug-in subtitles are a separate file. The srt subtitle format is the most common and has the.srt extension. In order for these subtitles to play along with the video stream, several conditions must be met. The video file and the subtitle file must be in the same folder and have the same name (but different extension). If this rule is not followed, rename the files. For example, if the video file is called Nature.avi, name the subtitle file Nature.srt.
Step 2
For subtitles to load automatically, your computer must have a DirectVobSub filter. If you install the universal K-Lite Codec Pack, the VobSub filter will be loaded by default. The K-Lite codec pack includes the popular Media Player Classic, which supports most video and audio file formats.
Play the movie using Media Player Classic. If the video file and the subtitle file have the same name and are in the same folder, the subtitles will most likely start to display automatically.
Step 3
If it doesn't, go to the File tab and click Load Subtitles. Make sure the subtitles are shown in the following filter: Play Tab Filters DirectVobSub Show Subtitles If necessary go to DirectVobSub Properties to set the font, color and height of the text. If the video stream and subtitles are out of sync, adjust the subtitle playback delay.
Step 4
Besides Media Player Classic, use other popular media players with subtitle support: Light Alloy, BS Player, VLC Media Player, KMPlayer. In this case, the VobSub filter must also be installed.
